Mercedes-Benz 8/20 PS

Germany 1913

In response to the increasingly severe competitive pressure from the US automobile manufacturing industry, Benz & Cie began to produce cars for the middle level consumer market in 1910. In 1911, the company produced 1,000 cars with a rated power of 8/18 horsepower. Due to the excellent sales of this car, it laid the foundation of confidence in the launch of the new car with 8/20 horsepower in the following year. The Benz 8-20 model is equipped with the most stable and quiet engine produced before World War I. And it has the nickname “snake car” because of the cobra-shaped air horn equipped on the front.
