Zim 12

Former Soviet Union 1950

The Zim 12 was produced between 1950 and 1960. It was a luxury car manufactured by Gorky Automobile Company of the former Soviet Union, with a total output of 21,527. Its design inspiration came from the Cadillac “Fleetwood 61” series in 1948 and the Buick “Super” series in 1947. This car was originally designed for the Soviet mid-level officials. It was soon used as a taxi and ambulance, which was the only government vehicle that was civilianized.

In 1952, when Peng Dehuai, then Minister of Defense, visited the Soviet Union, Stalin presented a Zim 12 as a gift. During the national construction, Peng Dehuai came to Sichuan as the Chief Commander. The Zim 12 was also settled in Chengdu. The Zim 12, collected by Chengdu Sanhe Classic Car Museum, was the one that Peng Dehuai used.
